"Pacific influences also feature strongly in her work - not surprising when you look through her window to the glorious stretch of sea beyond. As Anna says "NZ's got a powerful geography and it would be hard not to reference it in some way."

"...There's just time for one last stop though, and high on the hill overlooking Nelson is the studio of artist, Anna Leary. Originally from Nelson, Anna moved back here to practice art, inspired by the natural beauty of her hometown. Her petal pieces, in multiple layers of trancsucent acrylic over a metalic base, use Tasman Bay as a reference point, with each petal representing light on the bay over a 24-hour period. These pieces have evolved from a facination with the pod as a symbol, which began for Anna back when she lived on the West Coast. The seed represents potential and that natural rhythms of life. Pacific influences also feature strongly in her work - not surprising when you look through her window to the glorious stretch of sea beyond. As Anna says "NZ's got a powerful geography and it woudl be hard not to reference it in some way."
