title 24 Hours, Tasman Bay
publication Wild Tomato Magazine
description Review by Da Neille Fletcher
date 31:10:2006

"The 'pod' has been used to touch on natures colours across the bay during periods of time...Reflections of sea & sky coupled with light and angles..."

What better place to exhibit a collection inspired by the 24 hours drama, expression and colour of Tasman Bay than from where landscapes are equally 'in sync'.

Anna Leary's opening night show for her latest series called 'Twenty-four hours, Tasman Bay' was an emphatic success, held within the striking confines of Woollaston Estates Gallery.

It's a pleasurable experience to enjoy quality local art and fine wine in a zone that is a sculptural element in itself. Specifically designed, the gallery is deep in the Mahana earth - a perfect temperature for paintings while in the courtyard water falls, grapevines nurture and Nelson's natural beauty is on song.

This series, by Anna, is part of a new body of work that aims to move beyond traditional surfaces and the two dimensional nature of painting. The 'pod' has been used to touch on natures colours across the bay during periods of time. A variety of structures form pieces such as 'twenty-four hours', 'seven days', to 'sixty minutes'.

Reflections of sea & sky coupled with light and angles are a flawless backdrop for corporate spaces and large domestic walls.

The exhibiton closes on 24 October and Anna's studio is open by appointment at 50 Queens Road, Nelson.
