title Eight days, Tasman Bay, 14 - 21 October 2006
medium Acrylic on formed acrylic
dimensions 400 x 810 mm

Painted from a vantage point overlooking Tasman Bay, this work examines the transition in atmospheric light and colour over an eight day period in the last phase of the lunar cycle. One of the moulded panels was painted each day, creating a direct visual reference to the artist's experience and observation of the passing days.

Underlying this is the artist's intention to establish a discussion about the 'time-poor' nature of contemporary existence and our constructed sense of time, versus the continual transitions inherent in the earth's natural rhythms.
